A MAN was sentenced to 16 year in jail at Snaresbrook Crown Court last week. He had been found guilty of an extensive list of crimes of a violent and sexual nature – mostly targeted at young men.
The guilty man was named as Waleed Saeed, 31, of Azalea Close, Ilford. He had been found guilty last November of 17 offences, including eight counts of rape, blackmail and making indecent images of children.
The Metropolitan Police investigation began in August 2024, after a man sent some sexually explicit photos to another person. That person, Saeed, tried to blackmail the man, who could not pay. Saeed then demanded that the man met him to discuss payment. The man did meet Saeed, who raped him.
It was at this point that the police became involved. They managed to identify Saeed from his posts on social media. He was arrested – and then evidence of more criminal acts was found on his phones. The police then sifted through unsolved cases in their records and found evidence which led to Saeed facing nine further charges.
At the sentencing hearing, the judge praised the Metropolitan Police for carrying out a challenging and complex investigation. Detective Constable Peter Collington, who led the investigation, urged any victims who had not yet come forward to do so. “We know Saeed began offending in 2018, deliberately targeting young men from south Asian and Muslim backgrounds on the impression that these victim-survivors would be less likely to contact police,” he said. “As part of our investigation, we’ve wrapped dedicated support around those who have already come forward. Following his sentence, I am making a direct appeal to other victim-survivors who may not have had the confidence to come forward, to please contact us.”
Saeed often used Snapchat, where he had several usernames – many of which were variations of “blsup”. He would often pretend that he was a woman or a transgender woman.
●Anyone who believes they may have been a victim of Saeed, or anyone who knows someone else who might have been a victim, is encouraged to phone the police on 101 and quote reference 5335/18JUNE2026. All victims will have their identity protected and their privacy respected.
