Sainsbury’s recalls contaminated black olives

IT’S ANOTHER case of Listeria monocytogenes in our food. Sainsbury’s has found the dangerous bacterium in its “Inspire to Cook” range black olives – and it’s recalled the product.

The affected product comes in a pack size of 120g with use by dates of 6th, 7th and 10th September.

Symptoms of Listeria monocytogenes are similar to those caused by flu. Someone who has consumed the bacteria can have a high temperature and/or chills. They can experience pain and aching muscles. They can feel or be sick and can have diarrhoea.

Listeria monocytogenes are particularly dangerous for people over 65 years of age, pregnant women, unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems.
