What a year it’s been for French Canadian artist Abbas Hassan. He’s signed as a global ambassador for the Pan-Asian Film and Music Awards academy (PAIFMA); he signed as the new face for international fashion brand Mastrioni’s latest campaign; and he’s scored great success with his music.
His last release of the year was “Sweet Girl”, originally released in late November with a video co-starring actress Armeena Khan and directed by top Persian director Amir Taherian. Sweet Girl is in English-Urdu/Hindi and starts out with some vocals in French and was produced with Rishi Rich’s protégé Naamless.
Now Abbas has surprised his fans by releasing a club mix of “Sweet Girl” – along with some unseen behind the scenes footage from the video shoot. The remix keeps the song’s middle-eastern essence but couples it with an old-school garage vibe –creating something completely new.
Abbas Hasan explained what he’s up to: “I thought my Habibis should have a club version of the song to dance to during the holidays. We had so much fun shooting the video, I know they’re going to love having a sneak peak at the behind-the-scenes. I loved working on this remix with Naamless, and it’s cool to take something like Sweet Girl and give it a completely different sound and feeling.”
So: is Abbas Hasan the Asian Peter Andre? Take a look and have a listen!
