Charlton dropped their first points of the season after surrendering a two-goal lead against Scunthorpe at the Valley.
Chris Powell sent out an unchanged team after last Tuesdays win over Colchester United.
Charlton broke the deadlock on 20 minutes after Jackson headed home Wright-Phillips’ assist.
Scunthorpe pressed and Chris Dagnall beat Newcastle target Rob Elliot on 31 minutes, but his goal was rightly ruled offside.
Scunthorpe looked sharper after the break, but the Addicks doubled their lead on 57 minutes when Danny Hollands’ cross from the left was headed home by Wright-Phillips at the far post. Scunthorpe raised the tempo and immediately pulled one back after Grant capitalised on hesitancy in the home defence.
The biggest cheer of the afternoon was to celebrate the return of Jason Euell. Jackson was denied a second by Lillis on 88 minutes and as the stadium announcer called out 5 minutes of time added on, Scunthorpe broke and Grant secured a brace and clinched a point for the visitors, sending the local crowd of 15,505 home disappointed.
