Participants at Tower Hamlets based Amani Foundation celebrated with a well earned party and certificate of participation ceremony after completion of a creative writing programme.
“Amani Foundation has been proud to host ten weeks of creative writing workshops,” said Chief Executive Ashuk Hussain JP. “The content has been mouthwatering and the energy throughout has been superb. “The good attendance has been very encouraging and we hope to be able to provide further beneficial programmes to the community in the future. “I would like to thank my colleagues who have voluntarily given their time in managing, devising and delivering this programme.” The programme has catered for 6-14 year olds and has covered themes such as newspaper reports, football poetry, diary entries, and collaborative writing. Programme Leader Emdad Rahman said: “It’s been ten tough weeks, but I’ve enjoyed every single minute of this journey. “From my high perch I have been doing a lot of talent spotting and there is so much creativity and promise within this cohort. “I hope the programme will nurture and spark creativity within these young people. They have been a pleasure to work with, and as future Ambassadors they are a credit to their parents, teachers and community.” Each week examples of works by participants have been published in a local newspaper. “I really liked writing poetry,” said Raheemah.
Her Sister Naseemah was also an attendee. She said: “I enjoyed making sense of muddled sentences. It made my brain work hard and I was pleased to see that I have a wacky side.” Anas added: “I enjoyed writing football poetry and were lucky that our programme leader is a real life football poet. He shared our poems on a website and our poems will be archived by the British Library. “I’m really going to miss this and I hope we can do it again soon.
