BISHWANATH UNITED from East London have held their first Inter-Bishwanath National Tournament up north in Rochdale.
Six teams played each other during an extremely hot and sunny afternoon, with outfits representing London, Bishwanath United management, Bradford, Rochdale, Oldham and Essex at the Cardinal Langlely High School in Middleton Manchester.
Dewan, Nasir and Matin were the team managers representing Rochdale, Bradford and Oldham respectively. The event, which was backed by the Bangladesh Regeneration Trust UK, saw an action packed afternoon finish with Rochdale beating Bradford in a penalty shootout to lift the Cup.
Bishwanath United manager Pervez Choudhury PB said, “We had a fantastic atmosphere all day and were afforded a great reception by Rochdale who were champions both on and off the pitch. Well done to Bradford for making the final. We hope this is the first of many such get-togethers. The best thing is we had an inclusive day, with even a 55 year old on the pitch!”
