The innovative scheme has greatly helped to foster positive relationships between diverse members of communities nationwide.

Shadwell is a unique ward in the borough of Tower Hamlets and is situated a mere ten minute train ride from the business hub of Canary Wharf. Darul Ummah is situated next to three local churches and representatives from all three places of worship attended the open day.

Over 100 hundred visitors attended and many were overwhelmed by the warm welcome. A gift bag was provided to each visitor. “I have thoroughly enjoyed today’s experience,” said one visitor. “We are all one at the end of the day and we all live and breathe the same air on this planet of ours. I’m proud that I have such a good relationship with our neighbours and welcome this great initiative.”

Khoyrul Shaheed, one of the organisers added: “It’s been a great day meeting and greeting our friends and neighbours. We are all one and I’m proud that we have taken these steps to display our unity. We are all a part of this planet and no one will go away. We have to learn to live together as one. This is nothing new. Together we are stronger.”
