ACTIVISTS have today spent a couple of hours in Bethnal Green gardens commemorating those who have died in Gaza. Perhaps you were there. Perhaps you couldn’t get there. Either way, please end your weekend by signing these two letters protesting at the UK’s role in obliterating Gaza and is people.
The ebb and flow of the Israeli state’s military attack on Gaza gives us repeated opportunities to remind the UK Government that they do not act in our name. The latest astrocity is the attack on North Gaza. Remind your MP and the Prime Minister that Parliament should take action to stop the bombing and the genocide.

At the start of September, determined action by campaigners persuaded Foreign Secretary David Lammy to suspend arms sales to the state of Israel. Sadly, the brakes were not put on all exports. Lammy left a loophole which allows the UK to send components for F-35 combat aircraft to the USA, knowing the USA will forward them to the Israeli state. The suspension should apply to all weaponry.

Finally, Tower Hamlets Council is still investing its pension fund in companies which support the Israeli state. Tower Hamlets Unison has launched a public petition asking for a debate in the Council, asking the Council to divest these funds from these companies. So far, the call has cross-party support, so a debate could be very effective. Help the campaign by signing the petition.
