East London Mosque is still there for the community

TODAY, 15TH JANUARY, is the second Friday on which the doors of the East London Mosque have been closed at prayer time, as Tower Hamlets’ most famous Mosque does its bit to protect worshippers from Coronavirus.

The guidelines which relate to this, the third, lockdown do permit places of worship to remain open. Some Mosques are continuing to run Friday prayers, and other prayer sessions – while enforcing safety measures such as social distancing, the ventilation of buildings and the use of hand sanitisers. The Muslim Council of Britain supported this approach. However, many Mosques have taken the decision to close to the public and to support their congregations online.

The East London Mosque has confirmed that it will remain closed until further notice, but it is offering a range of practical and spiritual support.
