ECB announces squad for tour of Bangladesh

The first multinational Physical Disability cricket tournament will take place in Bangladesh in September – and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has now announced its 15-man squad, who will travel out to Bangladesh later this month.

Alex and Hugo Hammond, both from Hampshire, have become the first brothers selected to play in the same England Physical Disability cricket team. Alex was named man of the series in his debut tournament in 2014 and he will be joined on tour by his younger brother, 19 year old Hugo. 

The England squad, which will be captained by Iain Nairn, includes six uncapped T20 players: Hampshire trio Josh Mead, Hugo Hammond and Dan Reynaldo, along with Drew White (Northumberland), Jamie Goodwin (Derbyshire) and Matt Askin (Shropshire).

The International Committee of the Red Cross International (ICRC) T20 Tournament for people with Physical Disabilities will be played in Dhaka between 2nd and 10th September. The England squad will play four T20s against Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India and Pakistan.
The ECB’s Head of Disability Cricket, Ian Martin, said: “We have a young, talented squad supported by a multi-disciplinary management team and we are looking forward to testing ourselves against the best physically disabled players from the sub-continent. This squad is yet another great example of cricket being a game for everyone.”
