Local Women brave the cold to celebrate interfaith special ‘Evening of Inspiration’ event was hosted in East London on Thursday to celebrate the faiths and cultures of local women from various backgrounds.
Braving the cold weather, over forty women attended the event at the London Muslim Centre and enjoyed a session of sharing personal stories, inspirational songs and poetry, including a walk through a fusion exhibition featuring artefacts and paint canvases from around the world, courtesy of The Black Stone Shop. The evening ended with a cultural buffet.
Mary Aldred who attended the event said: “I found the evening so inspiring. It was something completely different from my ordinary life but I felt so comfortable and relaxed. It was a true sharing of spirit, humanity and sisterhood!” Speaking about the success of the event, organiser Asma Khan, said: “This has been our fourth ‘Evening of Inspiration’ event and the rich variety of women we meet each time still amazes me.
This year’s event bought together women from Buddhist, Christian, Catholic, atheist and Muslim backgrounds to name a few. Despite the cold weather a large number of women attended and there was so much to share with each other that it truly became an evening of warming hearts! The ‘Evening of Inspiration’ was organised by Muslimaat UK, a local Muslim women’s organisation based in East London.
