Free fun for Tower Hamlets youngsters

As we head towards the end of the holidays, make the most of the mild spell to make sure your junior citizens get out and about instead of sitting indoors moping about.

All young people in the borough aged 8-19 (and up to 25 in the case of those with special educational needs) are entitled to attend a wide range of holiday activities across Tower Hamlets.

Sample activities include the following.

•Osmani Trust
The Amaal Girls’ project offers Pizza and smoothie making, go karting, canvas painting, bowling and cinema trips.

•Weavers Community Forum (WCF)
Pool competition, table tennis, martial arts training, CV writing, New Year’s celebration.

•Newark Youth London
Indoor climbing, laser tag, indoor karting and cardrome.

•Shadow Youth Alliance
A graffiti workshop, photography class, theatre trip, t-shirt design, top golf and helping homeless people.

•2nd East London Scout Group
Faith workshop, trips out, Christmas dinner, photography and film making.

•Mudchute Association
Ice skating, festive activities, pantomime, equestrian activities and premiership football.

•Bangladesh Football Association
Citizenship workshop, visit to Winterville, Christmas pantomime, diversity workshop, ice skating and indoor and outdoor sports and games.

•Society Links
Coding, IT safety, go karting, arts and craft and cinema trips.

•Ocean Youth Connexions
DSA driving theory test; workshops on driving including road signs, tips on how to pass, a BSM signal course, cardrome training and also bowling.
Also on offer: a separate course to assists young people with special educational needs and disabilities in staying safe, being more aware of dangers on the road and other road users.

The Council has not announced whether the seasonal offer is down this year after Government Commissioners axed funding to a huge number of community groups earlier this year.
