The Cemetery Park has won a Green Flag Award and will therefore, together with all other winning sites, be entered into the annual People’s Choice Award vote. Last year saw over 35,000 votes from the public, and the Cemetery Park was lucky enough to make it into the top 20. This year the Friends are hoping the Cemetery Park will come in the top ten. They are asking supporters to go to the Green Flag Award website and click the button which says “vote for this site”:

Wild Food with Forage London
Thursday, 8th October, 9.30am-1pm
Join John, of Forage London, for an exploration of the park. Along the way participants will pick and eat various leaves, berries, flowers and roots.
All welcome. £25 per person.
Small Mammal ID & Survey Skills
Saturday, 10th October, 9am-3.30pm
The session covers small mammal identification, ecology, setting of live traps, surveying and safe handling of small mammals in the UK. This is a rare chance to see our native small mammals up close. The workshop will be led by Jim Jones from the Surrey Wildlife Trust. All welcome. £22 per person

I stumbled across the Tower Hamelts Cemetery Park last week and was enchanted by it. Surely many more. People. Could be engaged in helping to restore it? Are there local schools in on the restoration as part of their Duke ofEdnburgh AwardScheme community service? There should be.
