THE GOLAPGANJ squad recently enjoyed an upmarket team bonding golfing trip, which seems to be paying dividends as the team enjoyed a comeback win against Sylhet rivals Chattak.
Inspired by neighbours Beanibazar dominating on the pitch next door, the Roses came back from a goal down to overcome Chattak at Stepney Green.
Hasnath Miah had set the Stone Men on their way with a first half opener as Golapganj struggled with the pace of Goyas Miah’s side.
It was the second half introduction of the talismanic Stepney FC legend Tharik Hussain and Mohsin Ahmed which turned out to be crucial, as a mixture of artistry and industry saw Golapganj turn the tables to record another morale boosting friendly win through two quick fire goals from Muhammad Musa and Rafique Uddin.
In terms of individuals, there were also stand out performances from Emrul Islam, Akrom Miah and goalkeepers Abdul Hakim and Anamul Haque.
Golapganj Manager Mohammed Zakaria said, “Our spirit is strong and the boys played with great pride. To come back from a goal down and beat a well drilled Chattak team gives us a welcome confidence boost. We are not an easy side to beat. There’s lots to work on, and we will keep plugging away to ensure we give a good account of ourselves in the Greater Sylhet Cup next week.”
