SCINTILLA CC were in no mood to lose pace at the top of the table as the Barking & Dagenham outfit made quick work of Essex County Cricket League contenders Hawks CC at the Jubilee Sports Ground in Chingford.
Hawks win the toss and decided to bat first. Md Morshadur Rahman justified Club Captain Ahmed Choudhury’s call to include him in the first team, and the Scintilla pace bowler was in irresistible form as Hawks were bowled out for just 93 from 20.5 overs. Lord and Shavon were top scorers with 18 and 15 respectively.
Mohammad Bodrul Alam Chowdhury (Bappy) and the returning Abul Hasib took two wickets apiece with Rashid Bashiri taking one.
After tea Scintilla stepped off the gas and cruised home 94/4 from 18.1 overs. The ever consistent Juwel Roy reached 50 not out, with Bappy contributing 21 and Ishaq Shawn 10 not out as Scintilla won by 6 wickets.
Morshadur Rahman was unanimously named man of the match.
Scintilla Skipper Ayaz Karim said, “Maybe with the summer heat the boys wanted to go home today – and the fact that the majority of the team were fasting during Ramadan speaks volumes about our excellent performance today.”
Club Captain Ahmed Choudhury concluded, “We have never bowled out a great team like Hawks for under 100 runs. To do so against league contenders is a massive boost for us.”
