Hope & knowledge, in association with the Ummah Welfare Trust, are taking part in a night ride to raise money and awareness for the Rohingya people of Burma.
The team hopes to complete the moon ride from Cambridge to London to raise money for one of the world’s most persecuted minorities. The Rohingya are denied freedom of movement, education, health treatment and even marriage. Recent years have seen an increase in forced labour, land seizures, arbitrary arrests, rape and torture. The team of cyclists are hoping that their efforts will raise much needed awareness of the plight of the Rohingya.
Cyclist Soifur Rahman said: “We are a group who enjoy cycling. We decided to pool our resources and use our energy to do some good. It’s great that we are able to enjoy memorable bike rides and events while inspiring people to raise money and awareness for great causes as well as staying fit and healthy. Hope & Knowledge has teamed up with Ummah Welfare Trust for this event and we are hoping to raise money and awareness for the Rohingya People of Burma and. We still need your support to reach our target.”
