HUMAN AID UK EMERGENCY MEDICAL AID TO SYRIA 2013

IMAG1448A local charity based in East London is about to embark on a memorable journey in order to aid the people of Syria.

The journey will see the convoy depart from London on the 21st of December, aiming to reach the Turkish/Syria borders at the start of the New Year. The team will be on the road driving through Europe and Asia. It will involve hours of continuous driving, and tough nights of sleep in the outdoors, as volunteers brave the winter cold, pitching tents throughout the journey.

Amongst the group of volunteers are a wide variety of people, varying from university students, teachers, social workers, mechanics and youth workers. Each has selflessly sacrificed their winter holidays, working tirelessly over the past few months carrying

Background

  • •A fleet of ambulances will be driven over land and by sea ferry to hospitals in Syria to help paramedic emergency response.
  • 75 Human Aid UK volunteers prepare to embark on a medical aid convoy from the UK to Syria.
  • 90% of volunteers/fundraisers are British Bangladeshi
  • 100% of the donations are being used for ambulances and medical aid
  • The convoy will drive the ambulances through Europe to the Turkish border with Syria and handover the vehicles and aid
  • A small minority of previous humanitarian aid volunteers have attracted some negative press from the media, and we aim to change that with our sole aim of delivering much needed medical equipment and supplies
