LEA students climb Snowdon for the needy in Syria

Pupils from London East Academy and Al Mizan school in east London raised £3,239.57 for the Ummah Welfare Trust’s winter appeal to support the desperately needy citizens of war ravaged Syria.

Year 8 were top of the table as they raised the most money for the appeal. Teacher Ustad Badr also led a team of trekkers who climbed Mount Snowdon as part of their fundraising activities.

The money collected will help to by winter packs for impoverished Syrian families. Funds will also be used for the upkeep of a bakery, blankets and medical aid.

Muhammad Imran, UWT fundraising officer said, “I would like to thank these respected institutes for supporting such a worthy humanitarian cause. The children are testament to how big hearted this community is and their hard earned donations will alleviate the sufferings of those stricken by tragedy in Syria.”
