A MAN HAS been charged with Grievous Bodily Harm after an assault in Plaistow Park, E13, left a 61 year old man with a serious head injury.
The incident took place in broad daylight, with police being called about at around 11.35am on Thursday, 30th May. The victim was taken by the London Ambulance Service from the Park to an East London hospital, where he remains, in a critical condition. His next of kin are aware of what has happened.
Police have arrested two men in connection with their investigation into this assault.
One man, 29, was arrested near the scene of the assault on suspicion of causing Grievous Bodily Harm. He has since been released from custody and remains under investigation.
The second man is Mohammed Metowlli, 23, of Bermersyde Point, Dongola Road, E13. He was arrested at an address in Plaistow on the day of the assault. He has been charged with causing Grievous Bodily Harm and was due to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court today, 1st June.
Police officers from the North East Command Unit are continuing to investigate the assault.
