WHEN REPORTS came in to the police that a man had been stabbed in the Ilford Lane/Wingate Road area just before 11pm on Thursday, 1st March they probably feared the worst.
Fortunately, the victim, who is aged 28, was lucky on this occasion. He was stabbed ten times, but managed to survive. He was taken by ambulance to an East London hospital and continues to receive treatment for injuries which are serious but not immediately life threatening. His next of kin are aware of the attack and are with him at the hospital.
The attack is being investigated by police officers from the East Area Command Unit – and detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward and help them establish exactly what happened.
Detective Constable Kirk Patson said, “It was sheer luck that the victim in this case wasn’t fatally wounded. I urge any witnesses to come forward and speak with police. If you are reluctant to contact officers direct, call anonymously via Crimestoppers, but please do make the call.”
•Anyone who witnessed this incident or has information concerning the identity of the suspect(s) is asked to call East Area Command Unit via 101 and to quote reference CAD7545/01MAR. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111, where you can give information anonymously.
