POLICE HAVE charged Salman Ahmed, 22, of no fixed abode, with murder of Lamar Stewart. A 21 year old man who had been arrested on suspicion of murder is still on bail as detectives continue their investigation.
Lamar lived in Mitcham but was attending a party in Ropery Street on 30th September. He was found by the emergency services in Eric Street, having been stabbed. He was treated at the scene and in hospital but died a couple of hours later – leaving his family devastated.
Police have renewed their appeal to the public to come forward with information. In particular, they would like to speak to the young people from East and South London who were at the party and may have witnessed the events leading up to the stabbing, even if they did not see the stabbing itself.
•Anyone who was at the party or in the immediate area in the early hours of 30th September is asked to contact police at the incident room on 020-8345 3865. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111, where you can give information anonymously.
