CHECK YOUR cupboards! A food company FGS Ingredients Ltd, which produces spices has found out that some of the mustard it supplies to other food manufacturers has been contaminated by peanuts.
Those manufactuerers have used the contaminated mustard to make their own spices and sauches. The manufacturers did not label their products as containing peanuts: of course they didn’t, because they thought they only contained mustard. These products pose a threat to anyone who is allergic to peanuts.
Companies which have used the contaminated mustart have been working with the Food Standards Agency to recall the affected products. The most recent companies to begin recalling products are Wilton Wholefoods, which has withdrawn a number of seeds and seasonings, and the Legendary Sauce Co.
Companies which began recalling products a coupe of days ago include:
•Waitrose (mustard seeds and spices);
•Hampshire Foods (several kinds of seasonings and powders):
•Mr Vikki’s (pastes, sauces and condiments);
•Fireway (dips);
•Domino’s BBQ dips;
•Westmorland Family Butchery (sausages, burgers);
•Chef Select (dip);
•Favourit (seasonings);
•Dunnes Stores (curry powder);
•Papa John’s (garlic & herb dip).
FGS Ingredients is a family owned business which has been based in Leicester since 1974. A full list of products being recalle can be seen on the Food Standards Agency website. Further products may be added to the recall lists over the next few days.
If you have any of the products on the website, return them to the shop or supermarket where you bought them and you should receive a full refund. You may see notices confirming the up to date position in those shops and supermarkets.
