THE EAST LONDON MOSQUE has announced that – following the sighting of the moon in Saudi Arabia yesterday, Sunday, 12th August is 1 Dhu Al-Hijjah.
Consequently, The Day of Arafat (9 Dhu Al-Hijjah) will be on Monday, 20th August. The first nine days of the month of Dhu Al-Hijjah are recommended for fasting – particularly the Day of Arafat.
Eid Al-Adha (10 Dhul Hijjah) will be on Tuesday, 21st August.
Eid Jama’ah times are:
1st Jama’ah 7am
2nd Jama’ah 8am
3rd Jama’ah 9am
4th Jama’ah 10am
5th Jama’ah 11am
•The East London Mosque will be holding an Islam Awareness course on Thursday, 6th September. The course is free and takes place between 9.30am and 4.30pm. The course will cover:
•Beliefs of Islam and Muslims
•Role of the Mosque and Imams
•History of Muslims in Britain
•Contemporary issues
The course aims to help those who are not Muslims to understand more about Islam, to dispel some of the stereotypes and to allow people to find out answers to their own questions.
Participants in the course will receive an English translation of the Qur’an, a pen and a course manual – as well as a certificate at the end of the day. There will be free refreshments throughout the day, as well as a hot buffet lunch.
The course will be ideal for those working in the public services who want to gain a better understanding of the East London population which they serve, or for people in private companies which are seeking to gain a better understanding of their potential client base here in the East End.
