Mufi smashes three as Stepney cruise home

MUFTI UDDIN smashed a hat trick and sweeper keeper Sham Zaman added one as Stepney FC roared to a 4-0 victory against SYA in the fourth round of games in the Inner London Football League.

Spurred on by captain Zaheer Saleh, Stepney raced into a two-nil half time break with a goal apiece from Uddin and Zaman. The rearguard of keeper Irfan Haji, Russell Choudhury and Amin Chowdhury remained airtight throughout as Jamil Ahmed and Ruhul Alam provided the midfield drive.

The veteran Stepney striker said, “It’s good to see our play being rewarded with goals and to be honest we could have had a few more.”

Manager Emdad Rahman added, “I’m very pleased to see the boys click into gear after an uneasy start to our campaign. The boys were magnificent tonight and with the return of my full squad next week it leaves me with food for thought.”
