MUJIBUL ISLAM, an inspirational teacher from inner London, has been honoured with the Freedom of the City of London for his services to education.
The Freedom of the City of London, believed to have begun in 1237, is the highest award that the City of London Government can bestow upon any individual. Previous recipients of the Freedom of the City of London have included Winston Churchill, Joan Collins and Princess Diana, but the award also recognises wider society.
After the ceremony Mr Islam commented, “I am deeply touched and grateful to be recognised for my service to education, something I am very passionate about. I am thrilled and immensely proud to receive this recognition and would like to thank my late mother, my wife, my family, friends and colleagues who have supported me throughout the years.”
