Newark celebrate cup victory as they become double winners

Newark U12s capped off a golden summer of football with a cup victory in the Tower Hamlets Youth League.

The Tower Hamlets outfit faced London Saints FC and an eye catching game saw both teams finish 2-2, with Raihan Uddin and Abid Haque scoring. A dramatic penalty shootout saw Newark beat their South London opponents 4-3 to become double winners.

Newark Manager Abul Bashar recapped on a glorious summer. He said, “Our hard work has paid off. Throughout the season we have played with composure and confidence. Our style is fluid and we play good football on the floor. I’m so pleased for the boys.”

The Newark Under 10 team were also in action but couldn’t repeat the success of their peers as the youngsters were beaten by Wapping Youth to miss out on their own double.
