Not three – it’s SIX knife victims in London last night

LONDON HAS experienced one of its highest incidences of knife crime in a single night as six young victims suffered knife attacks across the capital – with five of the victims being hurt in incidents in East London.

•First came the news that three teenagers had been knifed as the evening began at the junction of Roman Road and Grove Road in Tower Hamlets. Two 15 year olds were rushed to hospital with more serious injuries. Parts of the area remained cordoned off overnight to assist police in recovering evidence. It was later reported that the third was 16 years old and was treated in hospital for minor wounds – and was then arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit Grievious Bodily Harm (GBH).

•News emerged later that a teenage boy had been stabbed at 5.30pm, half an hour earlier than the Mile End stabbing, in East India Dock, near the junction with Birchfield Street.

•The next report to come was that a 13 year old boy had suffered serious injury in a knife attack just before 7pm. This incident was in Gainsborough Avenue, Newham.

•Finally, just after 7pm – and again in broad daylight – a teenager was stabbed outside the HSBC bank on Ealing Broadway. The victim is said to be a young, black teenager who suffered serious injury.

Police have so far confirmed that one male has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and a further three youths have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent (these in connection with the incident in Newham).
