A SERIOUS road accident occurred at 6.50am on Friday, 16th February on Stoke Newington Church Street, when a motor vehicle collided with a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, a 92 year old woman, was seriously injured. She was taken by ambulance to an East London hospital, where she continues to be treated for what are described as life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the vehicle was a 54 year old man. He stopped at the scene of the accident and is assisting the police with their inquiries. The police are urgently seeking witnesses to the accident to help them to confirm what happened.
