Controversial arts venue the Rich Mix in Bethnal Green Road is hosting a storytelling evening – for – adults on 25th June. The event, Ticket to the Moon, is described as a “one-off evening of fairytale, myth and epic”. The storytelling is being presented by the performance storytelling promoters the Crick Crack Club and features expert storytellers Nell Phoenix, Sally Pomme Clayton and Tim Ralphs.
It all sounds rather surreal. The event takes place in the bar at Rich Mix, which will apparently be transformed into the Heavens. The stories revolve around the people and objects in the said Heavens (warring celestial bodies, space objects and gods in dispute) and rely on fairy tale, epic and myth.
“Often, the heavens resemble a city in the middle of a riot where everyone happens to have superpowers,” says the Crick Crack Club (making the said heavens sound rather like the Labour Party).
