Keep King Edward Park Green – Fundraiser
11 March 2011 from 7 – 10 pm
The campaign thanks James Wallace Wines of Wapping, kind hosts of the first fundraiser for the campaign to save King Edward VII Memorial Park (“Shadwell Park”). Over 3200 people have signed our petition asking Thames Water to site the super sewer connector on a brownfield site, not in the only large open public space between Tower Bridge and the Isle of Dogs. The campaign has attracted cross-party support and momentum is building.
To date, Thames Water is sticking to its plans for our park. It is clear that the campaign will have to continue through the summer during the second stage of public consultation and funds are needed to achieve this.
Tickets are £5 and include a complimentary glass of house wine or a soft drink. The campaign would like to express appreciation to the local businesses and individuals who have contributed prizes for our raffle (£1 for a strip of 5 tickets):
· Jim Fitzpatrick MP – a tour of the House of Commons and tea on the Commons terrace for two
· Matt Pritchett, Daily Telegraph cartoonist – autographed “Matt – the best of 2010”
· Claire Manwani Pottery – handcrafted soap dish
· James Wallace Wines – bottle of wine
· Waitrose St. Katharine Dock – £25 voucher
· The Laundry Box, New Crane Wharf – £15 voucher
The event takes place from 7 to 10 pm on Friday 11 March. For further information please contact KEMP campaign Vice-Chair emmapuosi@hotmail.com mob: 07887992958
