Scintilla CC made light work of neighbours Redbridge with an 88 run victory at the Britannia Sports Ground last weekend.
Scintilla CC won the toss and decided to bat first to reach 277/8 from 45 overs. Syed Iftekhar was the top scorer with 53, and he was joined by a cluster of team mates who chipped in with crucial runs. Walid Ahmed added 50, Abdullah Khizir, 37, Amir Khan 24, Moin Arefin 20, Zahied Hossain 15, Samsuddin Tipu 15 and Rifat Mahmud was 15 not out. Redbridge’s Ali took 39/3.
With a large total to aim for, the home team were all bowled out for 189. Rifat Mahmud took 3/35, captain Shaha Riadh 2/43, Mahbub Chisty 2/40, Walid Ahmed, 2/27 and Moin Arefin 1/5.
Walid Ahmed was selected as man of the match for an outstanding half century and three wickets. He said: “We have consistent performers throughout the team and it’s not hard to do so well when your team mates support you so well. I’m glad we took the points.”
Captain Shaha Riadh added: “We had lots of positives in the field today. There were a good few partnerships. We occupied the wicket well and the fielding throughout was excellent. We are now in second place and will keep pushing the leaders right up until the last game.”
Scintilla seniors lost their Premier League game to Fords CC by five wickets.
