BANGLADESH CRICKET STAR Shakib Al Hassan was the star attraction at an event held at the Mayfair venue in Romford to celebrate Muslim Charity’s Children of the World project.
The event, hosted by Essex Cricket Board Director Jawar Ali, saw the legendary all-rounder meet fans, answer questions and take photos – as well as conducting a Q&A alongside Capital Kids Cricket Chair Shahidul Alam Ratan. Among the local celebrities in attendance was Hajj Rider Rashid Ali of Team MC.
In his opening speech, Harun Rashid of Muslim Charity said, “We have a long term vision to bring about change. We wish to spread the message and that’s why we are not here to collect money from our guests as normally happens. What we do want is for everyone to observe our vision and share it with the world. We are committed to working with the most vulnerable.”
Speaking during the event Shakib Al Hasan commented, “It’s a pleasure to be here in London and be a part of such a great charity event. I have watched the presentation of what the charity is doing in terms of supporting vulnerable children in Bangladesh and I feel proud. I am inspired by the people in this room and what you all do. You are all the true heroes!”
