Here’s a nice little tune for what looks like being anything but a summery end to the summer holidays. “Tell Me” (“Tu Bata”) is a real smoothie: billed as a hip-hop ballad, it’s much hipper than hopping. The disc comes from Ill Defined – and features Swaati, whose golden voice flows like honey as she delivers the compelling melody.
The meaning of Ill Defined is: “not clearly or sharply defined”. It’s used to describe something that is not understood and something you do not quite know what to do with, it’s like a problem and it’s this mystery that separates them from others in the industry.
The Bedford based brothers, Mar2s (Mar-toos) and Ripz continue to deliver exciting new music. They enjoyed great success last year with the song “Forever” on which they collaborated with Navin Kundra. They have since been featured on BBC 1Xtra and Radio 1 where they were invited to take part in a cypher dedicated to Asian rappers. The guys deliver music from their hearts.
Mar2s says: “We wanted to stay on the cutting edge of fusion music and showcase our unique style of production as well as song writing.” Ripz explains why they chose to work with Swaati: “She has a really unique style and is one of the most versatile Asian female vocalists out there.”
“Tell Me” (“Tu Bata”) is available from iTunes.
