PPL is a Good Thing. It is a non-profit making company which works on behalf of over 90,000 record companies and performers to license recorded music played in public (at pubs, nightclubs, restaurants, shops, offices and many other business types) and broadcast on TV radio and online across the UK. Although its 90,000 members include major record labels and globally successful performers, the majority are small businesses and session musicians – all of whom are legally entitled to be fairly paid for the use of their recordings and performances.
However, this worthy company has taken a moment out to discover what music people prefer to listen to while they are working out in the gym. Two main findings emerged.
•First, YouGov established that 83% of gym members in London who attend fitness classes prefer to listen to music by original artists when working out at a fitness class. The gym goers said they found original tracks more enjoyable and of a better quality than covers.
•Second, a chart of most played songs to work out to in 2014 has been supplied by FitPro.

Now TV fitness guru Mr Motivator has come out backing original artist tracks too. He said: “You can’t beat music by original artists to get everyone feeling good and feeling pumped. And I suppose after all that exertion, for the cool down I’d suggest something chilled and my ultimate track would be Bob Marley’s classic, No Woman No Cry.”
