LONDON, 22 November 2010 – The annual Asian Wedding Exhibition 2010 was held this weekend at north London’s iconic Alexandra Palace. The PureJewels sponsored event welcomed between 8-10,000 visitors from across the UK to the show over the weekend. Now in it’s 18th year, the longest running Asian Wedding Exhibition in Europe, showcased 143 exhibitors some travelling from Pakistan and India exclusively to showcase their products at the event creating a unique opportunity for British consumers. The exhibition’s Jaguar sponsored catwalk unveiled the latest in the new seasons couture collections for brides and grooms.
Marking a shift in the fusion of both eastern and western wedding trends, the event attracted a diverse mix of visitors from both south Asian and non-south Asian backgrounds all looking for the best in wedding services including award winning henna artist Ash Kumar who’s worked with Madonna and Julia Roberts.
One visitor expressed how ‘refreshing and informative’ it was to see and speak to a hand picked exhibitors without the distractions of celebrity and gimmicks.
PureJewels presented their six engagement and wedding ring collections Passion, Honesty, Grace, Virtue, Honour, and Adoration and also welcomed the latest in diamond tension technology with collections from Christian Bauer. Jayant Raniga, Brand Manager of PureJewels says, “PureJewels exhibited at the AWE last year and the response was fantastic. We knew right away that the quality and substance of this event would be key for us as a leading engagement and wedding ring retailer to be intrinsically involved in. As key sponsors of the event this year, we showcased our six key collections and received a positive response”.
Yogesh Kanani, founder of the AWE says, “The seeds of the exhibition were sown after seeing an advert in the local newspaper promoting an English Wedding show. My fiancé and I were planning our wedding and realised that there was nowhere for us to visit similarly for Asian weddings. We took this up as a challenge and the Asian Wedding Exhibition was born. For the first exhibition in 1994, we secured 30 exhibitors, Wembley conference centre and attracted 3,000 visitors. The rest as they say is history”.
