TODAY we look south west from the bridge in the middle of Millwall Dock. It’s a curious mixture of the old and the new.
The once proud cranes which towered over the docks, helping to haul the cargo to shore, are now belittled by the structures of the late 20th century. What are these giant boxes that look like a multi-storey car park and the loading bay of a supermarket?
Where once large ships berthed after a journey from an exotic location, now there are some strange wooden structures that look as if they are neglected moorings for passing kayaks.
That’s Docklands today.
