WE OPEN THE new autumn season of The Thames Today with a look at a murky stretch of water just north of Coldharbour, E14, in a photo taken yesterday, 1st October.
Here a narrow inlet feeds water from the main river into the Blackwall Basin. Sadly, a huge covering of green algae has collected: a covering so thick that it is holding up the litter sitting on it.
Fortunately, the problem was short lived. By today, 2nd October, most of the algae had gone.
