TOWER HAMLETS COUNCILLORS: what are they like? The hot topic in the Borough is the decision of Executive Mayor John Biggs to impose new contracts (“Tower Rewards”) on the Council workforce. Do Labour Councillors back him or not? Ten councillors have signed an open letter asking him to think again. Thirty-one have not. It’s time we got to know our councillors a bit better, so this month we’ll be sharing some quotes from Labour’s public representatives.
“It is great to [be] delivering Ifter meals to our vulnerable and isolated residents in #Whitechapel Ward with @MayorJohnBiggs Very much grateful to Mabs Chowdury and Tufazzal Alam of Sunargon Restaurant in Whitechapel for their Support”
Cllr Shah Ameen, Whitechapel Ward, not allocated a job attracting financial remuneration by Executive Mayor John Biggs this year
Cllr Ameen is one of the ten Labour Councillors who signed an open letter to Executive Mayor John Biggs asking him to reconsider imposing the Tower Rewards contracts on Council staff. Cllr Ameen doesn’t put many opinions on Twitter, but he did tweet about distributing Iftar meals – together with John Biggs. Let’s hope Cllr Ameed had time, during that walk around the ward, to mention the negative points in the new staff contracts.
●Why not drop Cllr Ameen a line or a text and congratulate him on showing solidarity with the workforce and signing the open letter? Contact him here:
