Just a few days later, in the early hours of 3rd September, police made two arrests. Two men, aged 22 and 23 years were detained on suspicion of murder and taken to an east London police station. Despite these arrests having been made, the Homicide and Major Crime Command is still investigating and need help from the public if they are to have a successful prosecution.
Detective Inspector Paul Considine, who is leading the investigation, appealed for help from the public, saying, “Any information, no matter how insignificant, may provide a vital piece of the puzzle for officers investigating the series of events leading up to, and immediately following, Abdul being shot. Abdul left his home at 22:00hrs, just 40 minutes before he was shot. Who was he with during those 40 minutes – where did he go? I fully appreciate that witnesses may be reluctant to come forward, but it is vital that we apprehend those responsible and all information will be treated with the utmost discretion.”
