Youngsters hold market stall to raise disability awareness

Young people spent the best part of a day at Chrisp Street Market to engage with the neighbourhood and raise awareness of the services the Tower Project provides.

Students ran a market stall selling cards, Christmas crafts and gifts to raise money to help the Tower Project, which supports young people with learning difficulties and disabilities. Its work includes helping them into training and employment.

Programme manager Jamie Crouch joined his students for the day. He said: “We have all been really busy today. They’ve learnt about customer service, money, communication. These activities help build up the participants’ social skills and also help break down barriers. This will greatly assist them with their Asdan Diploma.”

As part of the UK Vocational education and training projects, the Tower Project relies on fundraising activities to enable young people to lead an effective and independent lifestyle despite their learning difficulty or disability.
