Youth gets nine years for Dagenham stabbing

AN 18 YEAR OLD who lost his leg in a stabbing incident has seen his attacker sent to prison for nine years and ten months. The attacker is Ce-jay Furzer, 17, of no fixed abode, who came from the Dagenham area.

Furzer had attended Snaresbrook Crown Court on 7th November, where he had pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm. He returned to court for sentencing on 14th December.

The conviction arose out of an incident on 23rd June. At around 4pm, the emergency services received reports that there had been a stabbing in Roberts Place, Dagenham. Police found an 18 year old youth suffering stab injuries. He was taken to hospital by ambulance, where his right leg had to be amputated above the knee because of the serious nature of the injuries.

The police were able to identify a suspect very quickly. He was arrested in Dagenham that evening and charged the following day.

DC Chris Christoforou of East Area CID said, “This attack has left the victim with life-changing injuries, and it is only through his fighting spirit that he did not die as a result of the stabbing. The assailant has shown no remorse throughout the investigation and only pleaded guilty after seeing the CCTV that had been obtained. We are pleased with the sentence that has been passed. We can only hope this gives the victim some kind of comfort and enables him to move on with his life.”
