SINCE 1960 the Bangladesh Caterers Association (BCA) has been working to represent that part of the UK catering industry which is run by people of Bangladeshi heritage.
Over the last 60 years there have been many change. From humble beginnings, Bangladeshi catering has grown to an important sector of the UK food industry. It is estimated that today it employs over 100,000 people, most of whom are of Bangladeshi heritage, and has a turnover of around £4.2 billion.
The BCA is run by an Executive Council, which is elected every two years. The organisation recently held an Appreciation Dinner for members and sponsors. Guests hear speeches and then watched a short documentary film about the BCA. The evening finished with dinner and a cultural programme.
