Adil Ejaz is new Scintilla captain

AHEAD OF THE START of the Essex County Cricket League (ECCL) Adil Ejaz Bhatti has been appointed the new captain of the first team at Scintilla Cricket Club.

The powerful all rounder is a long standing member of the club and returned to playing competitive cricket two seasons ago. His natural ability, tenacity and leadership have seen Bhatti slalom his way to the top of the tree at Scintilla.

Bhatti, who led the club to an incredible victory in the ECCL League Cup in 2017, takes over from Scintilla stalwart Ayaz Karim, who has moved on to pastures new.

Commenting on his appointment, the new Scintilla skipper said, “It is a great honour not only to play for the club but to also be handed the captaincy. We have made some changes in personnel and are looking forward to hugely exciting seasons ahead in both the ECCL and the Essex Sunday League. My thanks to Ayaz for doing a splendid job as Scintilla captain. As a winner, I hope to emulate and go further, especially with the talent at my disposal.”

Bhatti will captain the ECCL and also the Essex Sunday League XI. All rounder Moin Arefin takes charge of the second XI from previous captain Shaha Riadh.

Club captain Ahmed Choudhury added, “Adil represents Scintilla from the core. He has years of input and his talent and ability to lead from the front will be crucial. The team are fortunate to have someone of his calibre to take over – Scintilla Cricket Club has always had excellent captains and both Adil and Moin will do us all proud.”
