Bangla TV back on line under new management

After suffering much difficulty Bangla TV was liquidated. The Company has been purchased by Director of Channel Mahi Ferdous Jalil, CEO of Channel S Taj Choudhury and Syed Samadul Hoque. Last year after running up debts of €3,054,000 Archiva took them to court where Bangla TV declared bankruptcy.

The company was previously called Bangla TV (Worldwide) Ltd and now has been renamed Bangla TV (UK) Ltd. OFCOM and BSKYB have been informed of the current situation.

Bangla TV was established in 1999 September by Firuz Khan who became Director; he was later joined by Sayed Samadul Hoque, Abdul Quadir and Gulam Dasthaghir Nishat. After disagreements developed between them, each member left one by one leaving Mr Khan to manage the company.

Mismanagement and financial problems led to it to being closed for varying lengths of time until eventually on December 2010 Bangla TV was liquidated and all assets were sold

  1. I really don’t understand how rubbish Is your journalists are, done no research before the report. Didn’t even get the name of the company right it’s arqiva not archiva. And aswell as not firuz. For god sake get it right. And maho jalil the fraud star is also on bankrupt so he is nothing to channel s according to paper.

Buying Bangla tv illegally from the liquidator Norman if I’m not wrong for only 12 and a half thousand pounds is a joke. And Norman also has a accountancy company where channel s and mahi jalils all transaction are made. Good deal mahi. Just clear that bengolis here they don’t want to support the right cause. Just like this news paper, as long ad you are sylhety they will support you. Non sylhetis I’m sorry no chance.

  2. Miah@

We live in the UK not Bangladesh if there was anything wrong done by Mahi Jalil or Channel S in acquiring Bangla Tv you know who to go to and complain, no point winging on the net. anyone with a bit of common sense will see that Channel S was catering more for the local community then Bnagla TV and people liked that, pluse it was free-to-view unlike BanglaTV which was taking advantage of community because of the monolopy it held not because of Sylheti non-sylheti issues. You seem to be the one with the identity ego.

  4. So it seems that both directors of rival Bengali TV; S channel and Bangla TV – were convicted of fraud and spent time in prisons. I’m not into these Bengali channels politics, but I think they don’t represent Bengali community in UK, but cater for the needs of fresh immigrants from back home.

In addition, even in S Channel, nearly all the contents are in standard Bengali, which most British Sylhetis don’t understand or in English, as they’re embarrassed to speak in their native Sylheti, so older Sylheti householder don’t understand, perfect! The whole Bengali channels are in a mess and operate in shady financial dealings. Now S channel founder; Mahee recently has been abducted and beaten up. Keep it up peeps!

  5. I agree 100% with Ahad.
To many bengalies want the same BS politics as we have in Bengladesh. Grow up people. Get out of your village mentality and do something good for the community here
