THE SECOND DAY of the UK Bangladesh District Cup, sponsored by the Islami Bank Bangladesh, has been completed. Group B (Moulvibazar, Brahmanbaria and Noakhali) and Group C (Sunamganj, Khulna and Feni) locked horns on another fabulous day of cricket at Seven Kings.
All four teams joined their counterparts from the previous day to back the “Bowl out Racism” campaign by Capital Kids Cricket. An exciting day’s play then saw Sunamganj and Moulvibazar join Sylhet and Cumilla in the semis. The results see three of last year’s semi-finalists make the last four again.
Sunamganj Captain Salman Ahmed said, “Another great day of cricket sees two more semi-finalists. I want to pay tribute to our opponents for their battling spirit. We are competitors but above all we are great friends.”
Abdus Salam, co founder of Moulvibazar and current BCSA President, is pleased with the tournament so far. He said, “These lads have put cricket on the map, and these teams have provoked such great interest with their efforts. I’m delighted Moulvibazar made the last four again.”
The semi-finals and final will be played on Saturday at Seven Kings Park.
