Book now for Ballet for Kids

“Dance” and “theatre” are adult concepts, used to distinguish strictly between two different forms of self-expression. C-12 Dance Theatre entwines both dance and theatre disciplines to deliver an innovative and emotional blend of physical dance performance with a theatrical narrative. Their choreographic style is a fusion of contemporary and modern dance techniques established in 2005.

C-12 has created a Ballet For Kids programme to build on their community engagement and to encourage and develop children’s ballet technique, movement and co-ordination within a friendly, creative and professional environment. Each session is lead by C-12’s dance industry professionals and the term builds toward a performance which highlights the new skills each child has learnt.

C12 has been running “Ballet for Kids” in Deptford and on the Isle of Dogs for some time: from 26th April they are adding Hackney’s Chats Palace Arts Centre (42-44 Brooksby’s Walk, London E9 6DF) to their list of venues where they deliver 12 week terms of community ballet classes.

Adam Towndrow of C-12 explains: “I’m delighted to have our Ballet For Kids classes take place at ChatsPalace. Chats has such a prestigious and interesting history and a historic significance within Hackney. Our love for Hackney is evident with the amount of community and professional projects we have delivered since we were established in 2005. This opportunity allows us to have a sustained presence, to continue our positive engagement, with Hackney residents. We will have young people supporting and assisting our professional teachers to deliver the classes, providing employment and a route from college to professional industry development.”

There are three classes every Saturday at Chatsworth:
9:30am-10:30am, Baby Ballet with parents for ages 2-3;
10:45am – 11:45am, Ballet For Kids for ages 3-4;
12pm-1pm, Ballet For Kids for the over 4s.

At The Space, Westferry Road, E14   3RS, classes are on Sundays, starting on 27th April. There are two groups:
9.45am-10.45am, Ballet for Kids (ages 2.5-4);
11am-12 noon, Ballet for Kids (for the over 4s).

Trial and drop in classes are £6, and a full 12 week term of classes costs £66 if paid in advance (a sibling discount is available). The final session is ballet recital performance.
