THAMES WATER worked throughout the night to fix the burst water pipe in the Fairfield Road area of Bow. They were able to restore the water supply by early Saturday morning. Bow Road re-opened at around midday on Saturday, with Fairfield Rod remaining closed while repairs were completed.
Ten fire engines and 72 firefighters attended the flood. They estimated that water stod 50cm high in the affected area. Crews pumped water out of some ten homes and ten commercial premises.
The operation involved crews from Bethnal Green and Millwall, who received assistance from crews in nearby Walthamstow, Tottenham and Homerton. They were able to leave the flood area in the early hours of Saturday morning.
There is no mention of the flooding incident on the Tower Hamlets Council website. The Council re-tweeted advice from Thames Water and Transport for London, and also tweeted on Saturday mornings that weddings at Bromley Public Hall would not be disrupted by the incident.
