British Muslim to receive Global Data Privacy Award

JAMAL AHMED – founder of Kazient Privacy Experts, based in London – has been awarded the designation “Fellow of Information Privacy” (FIP) – the first British Bangladeshi to receive the award. He joins a highly select group of professionals worldwide who hold the FIP designation.

Ahmed won this recognition from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) in recognition of his expertise in EU GDPR principles and practice.

The IAPP has strict criteria for awarding the FIP designation. It requires achieving at least two IAPP credentials, including the Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) status, considerable on the job experience and recommendations from other Privacy professionals. The FIP certifies that the holder has demonstrated a comprehensive knowledge of privacy laws, privacy program management and essential data protection practices.

Ahmed started Kazient Privacy Experts in 2014 to help businesses understand and comply with Data Protection and Privacy regulations “in a language you understand”. The firm provides GDPR consultancy services to businesses in the UK and beyond.

The complexities of Brexit have prompted Kazient to open a new office in Dublin, from which they can act as the EU Representative for UK companies. The firm has recently been shortlisted for the British Business Awards 2019.

“I’m sincerely humbled and thank the IAPP for recognising me with this award,” said Ahmed. “Alhamdulilah, I am honoured to be the first British Bangladeshi to be recognised as a Fellow of Information Privacy and hope this award inspires others.”
