Burglars ruin students’ future: can you help?

Four young medical students are facing an uncertain future as police hunt for computers containing their college work which were stolen from their shared home in Bartlett Road over the weekend.

Burglars got into the premises via a window, and they proceeded to ransack the house before walking off with a number of items – including a laptop and an external hard drive which contained one young student’s university work from the last four years, including irreplaceable research projects and a dissertation which took him over seven months to write and which is due in within days.

The students are traumatised as a result of the burglary, but they cannot take any time off their studies to recover. They have the additional worry of not knowing whether their tutors will give them extra time to re-write their dissertations and how they will cope with having lost four years of their course notes and their own research.

When we go to the Royal London Hospital we rely on finding a suitably qualified doctor who can treat us. Those doctors have studied for years to get to the position where they can help us. We don’t have enough doctors in the UK, so it is up to all of us who will need them in the future to help our student doctors to qualify when we can.

Someone out there must know where these stolen goods are and would be able to see that they are restored to these students. If you have any information which can help, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. The number is free to ring and all information is treated as confidential: you will not even be asked for your name.
