Celebrities sparkle at ARTA Awards UK

CELEBRITIES from the worlds of entertainment and sport turned out in force on Sunday as the Asian Restaurant and Takeaway Awards were handed out to Asian food outlets from across the UK.

Premiership footballer Jai Verma was joined by England cricketer Monty Panesar. Entrepreneur Kiran Rai turned out, as did Krishna – a celebrity make-up artist. BBC. The awards were presented by BBC journalist Samantha Simmonds, with Paul Scully MP also present to enjoy and endorse the event.

Jai Verma told reporters that he was “excited to be here and show support.” Representatives of Spice India said, “It was truly a fantastic experience and to be recognised in London is so overwhelming.” CEO Mohammed stated, “It was an honour to have all the restaurateurs from across the UK and guests from the world of entertainment” present at the awards event.

The awards were presented at a ceremony on Sunday, 13th October at the Westminster Park Plaza. They recognised the diversity of the Asian element of the UK food industry, which encompasses chefs, small eateries and food carts right through to five star curry houses. The awards are always highly regarded as they are allocated on the basis of votes from customers, collected in a giant survey conducted by ChefOnline.
